    Downtown Statesville Jingle Ride

    Bring your holiday spirit and decorated bike and join First Flight, Red Buffalo Brewing, and special guest Santa Claus on December 15th for a holiday jingle ride around downtown Statesville!!!

    • Meet at First Flight Bikes at 5:30 with your decorated bike for a beer and any last-minute bike prep/decoration.
    • The ride departs at 6:00 and follows a relaxed 5-10 mile route around downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.
      • The route will be based on where the good lights are in town and will be posted once finalized. Plenty of picture stops and an easy, casual pace make this a great ride for anyone. If you want to get to Red Buffalo early there will be plenty of options to cut the route short.
      • Headlights and taillights are recommended for your bike.
    • End up at Red Buffalo Brewing for more festivities.
    *If the weather isn't great for riding it will still be great for hanging out and having some beers!

    Join us on December 2nd from 5-9 pm during Downtown Statesville's Shop and Stroll for our annual Customer Appreciation Party! We appreciate all of your support over the past year and for allowing us to be a part of the Statesville community. Also, Santa might make an appearance!

    What's the deal with smart trainers? 
    A smart trainer is a machine much like the trainers of the past. You mount your bike to it either through a wheel-on system where the wheel is mounted on the trainer or through a direct drive, where you remove the wheel and attach your drive train to the trainer. 
    However, unlike trainers of the past smart trainers connect to training apps that offer structured training plans as well as group rides and other features that make indoor training more enjoyable and engaging. These apps will communicate with the trainer through Bluetooth or ANT+ to adjust the difficulty to simulate changes in terrain as you ride through the virtual world.

    Do I Need a Trainer?

    Do you want to get stronger on the bike, and hate when you can’t ride due to weather, temperature, or lack of time? If so a trainer could be a great addition to your cycling repertoire. With the explosion in popularity of indoor training, some see it as not just a supplement to your regular cycling but as a cycling discipline in itself with races and competiton.

    Direct Drive or Wheel-On: What Type of Trainer is Right For Me?

    With the wide variety of trainers on the market now this can be a difficult question to answer on your own. There are advantages to both options and some disadvantages depending on what you are looking for in your trainer. The best way to make this decision is to speak with one of our knowledgeable staff members and discuss what you are looking to get out of your trainer.
