The YMCA Pumpkin Fest 5K Race & Fun Run/Walk
The 2010 Pumpkin Fest will start off with a bang - as the annual fall YMCA Pumpkin Fest 5K Race gets things going early in Downtown Statesville on Saturday, November 6. The one-mile fun run and 5K road race will be begins and finishes at Mitchell Community College, starting at 8:30 a.m. with the one-mile fun run. Group Walkers are welcome and the cost is $10 per participant. Registration is from 7:30-8:15 a.m. at Mitchell Community College. The 5K race starts at 9 a.m. Registration is $20 per person. Pumpkin Fest Cornhole Classic Tournament
The 2nd Annual Crossroads Pumpkin Fest Cornhole Classic Tournament which will take place during the festival on Saturday, November 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Statesville. For those of you not familiar with the game, baggo, corn toss, bean bags or cornhole (as it is most commonly called) is an increasingly popular game where players toss a one-pound bag filled with corn at a sloped box with a hole at one end. Points are awarded either by tossing the bag into the hole for 3 points, or if the bag stays on top of the box, the player earns 1 point. The first team/individual to score 21 points wins the game. The entry fee is $50 per two-man team with a maximum of 32 teams participating in the tournament. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top four teams. Rules and regulations will be posted at the tournament site which is within the boundaries of the Crossroads Pumpkin Fest on South Center Street in the vicinity of City Hall and the Vance Hotel.
